What if I only know I am suddenly losing my hair and I don’t know why?
Answer: You should set up an appointment for evaluation to determine what type of hair loss you have. You will be evaluated by answering a few questions and having your scalp and hair examined. Depending upon type of your hair loss, your options for further diagnosis and treatment will be made.
Is my hair loss treatable or reversible?
Answer: There are two types of hair loss (alopecia): scarring and non-scarring. Scarring alopecia is often NOT reversible, while non-scarring often IS. You can read more about the difference on our Understanding Hair Loss Page, and more about Scarring alopecia here.
If it is determined that medication, pregnancy, diet or any other situational or environmental factors are the cause, many times the hair will grow back on its own. It is important that you set up an appointment for evaluation to determine what type of hair loss you have and the best course of action.
How long does it take for hair to regrow?
Answer: The length of regrowth time is dependant upon your condition and your course of treatment. Typically, hair will regrow in 12-24 weeks; however, you may start to notice some hair growth in as little as 6-12 weeks.
